There is nothing to pay

Lamplight takes no money. To be specific, because this is the page where vagueness would be worth something to us and nothing to you:

• No fee, no subscription, no licence, no per-child charge.
• No free trial, and therefore no trial that quietly becomes a paid plan.
• No card details are collected. There is no checkout in this app.
• No paid tier, no upgrade prompt, and no feature held back behind one.
• Nothing auto-renews, because nothing was bought.

It follows that there is no cancellation to make and no refund to claim. If you want to stop using Lamplight, stop — or ask for the schoolhouse to be deleted, which is on the privacy page.

The one bill that can arrive, and who sends it

Grok-written lessons and tutor hints run on an xAI API key. If you add your own key on the Family page, xAI bills you for that usage directly, under your agreement with xAI. That money never passes through Lamplight, so Lamplight cannot refund it — only xAI can.

Two things limit it. Each schoolhouse is capped at 60 hints and 25 written lessons a day, counted in the database, so a stuck loop cannot run up a bill overnight. And every one of those calls is optional: the shelf, the sequence, custom assignments, grading, records, reading, calendar and everything else work with no key at all.

If this ever changes

If Lamplight starts charging for something, this page changes first — before any price appears in the product. It will say what is charged, when, how to cancel, and what happens to your family’s work if you do. Any renewing charge will say so plainly at the point of purchase rather than in a footnote, and cancelling will be as easy as starting.

Until then, take this page at face value: there is no catch, because there is no transaction.
