Cookies
Lamplight uses one cookie: the one that keeps a parent signed in. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie, and no third-party tag — which is why there is no consent banner to click through.

Why there is no cookie banner
A consent banner exists to ask permission for the things a site does that you would not expect and did not ask for — analytics, advertising, profiling, session recording. Lamplight does none of them. The only cookie it sets is the one that remembers you signed in, which is exactly what signing in means, and which every privacy rule in force treats as strictly necessary and exempt from consent.
Putting a banner on this app anyway would train a family to dismiss a dialog that protects nothing. So the list is published instead, and you can check it.
Every cookie this app sets
| Cookie | What it does | Category | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session token | Keeps a signed-in parent signed in. Signed and HTTP-only, so page scripts cannot read it | Strictly necessary | Until you sign out, or it expires |
| Session cache | Saves a round trip re-checking that same session on each page | Strictly necessary | Short-lived; cleared when the signed-in person changes |
Both are first-party — set by lamplight.family, sent only to lamplight.family, readable by nobody else. There is no third cookie.
Other things kept on your device
Not cookies, but the same question, so they belong on the same page. All three stay on the device and are never sent anywhere.
| Storage | What is in it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Offline database (IndexedDB) | A copy of your own family's week — today's work, the assignments, what has been turned in | So the table still works when the internet does not. Cleared when you switch person or sign out |
| Session storage | A sign-in token, in the hosted preview only | The preview runs in a frame where cookies do not reach the server. Not used on lamplight.family |
| Service worker cache | The app's own files — the icon, the stylesheet, the code | So the app opens offline. Contains no personal data |
Third-party tags, pixels and embeds
There are none. To be specific, because "none" is easy to write and hard to trust — the following are all absent from this app:
- Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or any other analytics product
- Meta, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Reddit or any other advertising pixel
- Session recording or heatmaps of any kind
- A chat widget, a support bubble, or a feedback tool
- Embedded video, maps, or social timelines
- Web fonts loaded from someone else’s server — the two typefaces are served from lamplight.family itself, so no font provider ever sees your device
The app’s content-security policy is set so that the browser will refuse to run a script from any other origin at all. That is a hard stop, not a promise.
Links that leave the app
Two places in Lamplight link out: Scripture opens the passage at LSBible.org, and the Scripture card credits Three Sixteen Publishing. Those are ordinary links, followed only if you click them. Once you are on someone else’s site their rules apply, not these.
Turning cookies off
Your browser can block or clear cookies for this site, and nothing here will stop you. The consequence is simple and worth knowing: without the session cookie a parent cannot stay signed in, so the app will ask for a password on every page. Clearing site data also empties the offline copy of your week, which is rebuilt next time you are online.
What is stored about your family on the server is a different question, answered on the privacy page.
